The Department of Transportation today announced an $800 million program to repair or replace 200 structurally deficient bridges across Columbia over the next three years.
"Safe bridges are essential infrastructure that connect our communities and support our economy," said Transportation Secretary Robert Chen. "This unprecedented investment will address decades of deferred maintenance."
The program will prioritize bridges based on structural condition, traffic volume, and economic impact. Construction is expected to begin this spring on the first 40 projects.
