Governor Wells Announces $42 Billion FY2026 Budget Proposal

Governor Patricia Wells today unveiled her proposed $42 billion budget for fiscal year 2026, prioritizing education, healthcare, and infrastructure investments while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

"This budget reflects our commitment to investing in the services that matter most to Columbia families while keeping taxes low and maintaining our strong fiscal position," said Governor Wells.

Budget Highlights

• $12.5 billion for K-12 education, a 5% increase
• $8.2 billion for healthcare and human services
• $3.2 billion for transportation infrastructure
• $1.5 billion for clean energy initiatives

The budget proposal will now go to the State Legislature for review and approval.
